Tretindanibba

Arrival and parking

Follow Fv63 towards Eidsvatnet, and take off right after or before Solvang Camping depending on which direction you drive. The car park is quite large and easy to spot.

About Tretindanibba

Tretindanibba can be found in Eidsdal, in Fjord municipality. The peak is located 1528 meters above sea level, has a rise of around 1100 meters and is about 7 km one way. The trip is marked all the way, with “V”, as this is located in the World Heritage Site. Oaldsvatnet, just before the top, is a nice fishing lake. (Fishing license must be purchased in the box by the parking lot.) The last part of the trip is quite steep with a lot of loose rock in the terrain, so it is important to be careful both on the way up and down.

Rating

On top of the world! At least it feels that way. This is a wonderful trip from beginning to end. Along the well-marked path upwards, the melt water flows from the snow and offers clean, ice-cold water. Therefore, do not bring a large drinking bottle, but rather refill often on the way up. The top offers the most spectacular view, and makes it worth the hard work. It is about 7 hours round trip, but take your time and set aside plenty of time with many breaks, bring good footwear as there is a lot of snow on parts of the trip, and bring enough food.
